I was greatly saddened to hear this news, I spent a short time as his FY1 his respiratory firm at the Royal Sussex County ~2013. I recall him as an inspiration leader. He always ensured everyone in the team was involved and had a say from seniors to the most junior team members. That patient notes were respected and cared for - something that may seem trivial but always stayed with me - thereafter I would always repair pages as he had showed up, doubling over sticky tape and punching new holes. A little detail but one that showed how seriously he took the work we do and the value in our written communication. I also recall some fascinating teaching the respiratory physiology of diving!
