He wasn't a very good cricketer though, which meant he fitted perfectly in our teams. Tony was an icon of world Allergy, and it would sadden him to see disengagement of UK from European integration that he had put SO much personal capital into. I doubt any of BSACI, EAACI and WAO would be flourishing now if Tony hadn't committed to them. He was the James Bond of UK allergy. He supported every wave of "new entrant" allergists, was a Founding Professor in Brighton and with Helen, forced the lab and university focussed allergy community to wake up to where most patients were suffering, in the community. In Irish/Gaelic the phrase is "Ni bheidh a leithead ann aris" = "We won't see his like again" He will be missed by us all Jonathan Hourihane
