Very sorry to hear this sad news. Professor Frew was obviously known across the world for his exceptional research achievements but he gained the respect of his juniors in Brighton with his eagerness to teach and offer some memorable wise words - including lessons he’d learnt from his family, who he spoke of so fondly. He took it in good spirit too when we would have a chuckle at his expense for his overenthusiastic teaching of niche topics! He was renowned in Brighton for his generous tradition of inviting all the respiratory team juniors to his house at the end of each rotation as a thank you for our work, where his wife would cook us a delicious meal and we could hear some of their stories. My sincere thoughts are with his friends and family. Ellie Crossley
