I had the pleasure of working for Professor Frew in 2013 when I was an F2 in his respiratory team in Brighton. His clinical genius, thought-process, wit, and ability to be an outstanding teacher meant he was a fantastic role model for me - a meer 4 months working for him didn't feel like anywhere near enough before I had to move on. Professor Frew made coming to work an absolute delight. Despite my short spell with him, many memories have stuck: us scurrying around the hospital inserting chest drains together, him wielding his clipboard during a post-take ward round being the exemplar of organisation, explaining how he had printed a sticker of his name so that when his badge turned the wrong way round he could still be identified, and having such a sense of humour that he was able to appear in our hospital Comedy Revue as himself, just showed how he put everything info his life and work. His departure comes with great sadness for me, and I offer my condolences to his family, his wife and Georgina I once met during a dinner party he hosted for his respiratory team.
